Air Pollution: SDMC fines NBCC, IIT (Delhi), Safdarjung Hospital for violating pollution control norms
To curb pollution, hot spots areas are being kept under constant surveillance by the officials of the building department.
New Delhi: The SDMC has imposed fine on many departments including, NBCC, IIT (Delhi), Safdarjung Hospital on charge of violating the guidelines issued by Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
During the last one week, the department concerned of the SDMC has fined as many as 72 companies/builders/owners amounting to nearly Rs. 65 lakh for not adhering with orders and guidelines issued by the DPCC.
The South Zone’s building department has observed grave violations in some big projects being executed by the NBCC and has imposed a fine of Rs. 5 lakh against them, said an SDMC release.
Different projects within the complex of IIT (Delhi) were also found violating the said guidelines and imposed the total fine of Rs. 20 lakh accordingly.
One project known as Sports Injury Centre-Safdarjung Hospital has also been fined with Rs. 5 lakh. Private builders / owners have also been fined challans after finding violation of the DPCC norms.
To curb pollution, hot spots areas are being kept under constant surveillance and monitoring by the officials of the building department. The measures under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), as issued by the Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority, are being enforced in this regard.
The officials concerned have been keeping strict watch and vigil on all such under-construction sites with a view to ensuring that all preventive measures to lessen the pollution are being taken by the owners/builders.
