Body of 2 men found in sewer manhole in New Delhi area, 1 arrested; police suspect murder

New Delhi: The body of two men were found in a mysterious circumstances in a man hole of a sewer manhole at opposite side of India International Centre, Lodhi State, Delhi on Tuesday night, the police said on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as
Khurshid (age 31), Sajjad (age 34), both are resident of Arariya district in Bihar. Prima facie the case appears to be murder. An FIR has been registered
under section 302/201 IPC at PS Tughlaq Road. One of the accused involved in the murder case has been arrested, Amrutha Guguloth, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), New Delhi.
“The arrested accused has been identified as Atik ( age 24), a resident of Mayur Vihar, ph 1, Trilokpuri, East Delhi, DCP said.
“We received a PCR call at around 6:17 PM regarding bodies of two persons were found lying inside sewer manhole
at opposite India International Centre, Lodhi State. A police team immediately rushed on the spot where the relative of the deceased were also present. The police team pulled out the bodies and sent them for autopsy. The bodies were identified by the relative of the deceased,” DCP said.
“We are scanning the CCTV footage in and around the crime scene to know the sequence of the incident and identified the accused. Local surveillance has been put on placed to arrest other accused involved in the case. We have arrested one accused,” she said.
The investigation revealed that the accused Atik has been previously involved u/s 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act in PS Saritha Vihar. The PM report of the deceased is awaited and further investigation is in process, she further said.
