A-35-year-old Delhi Transport Corporation employee was shot dead in front of his five-year-old son in New Usmanpur in North-east Delhi area late night on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Akibuddin (35), a resident of the same locality. He was working as driver in DTC. The incident took place at around 11:45 pm when he was on his way to home accompanied by his son and sister as two scooty borne assailants overtook him and shot him multiple times.

Police said after seeing his father being shot multiple times by assailants, the son ran towards his home to inform the family about the tragic incident.

According to the family members, the five assailants were accompanied by their mother and were waiting for Akibuddin in the locality.

Akibuddin’s sister Rehmat said, “As soon as we reached home, five men were standing outside our home waiting for us. Seeing my brother they started shooting at him. The mother of the assailants was also present at the time of the incident.”

However, police have denied involvement of any woman in the case.

According to the investigation, it is believed that Akibuddin was attacked due to personal enmity as all accused are said to be known to the family. Police sources said that two brothers of deceased Akibuddin are accused in a murder case last year and had been arrested.

DCP, North east, Atul Kumar Thakur said that a team has been formed to arrest the accused. “We have identified two accused involved in the case. They will be arrested soon. Prima-face, it was found that two assailants had committed the incident. Further investigation is under,” DCP said.
