EDMC organises Training-cum-Awareness Programme on waste management for bulk waste generators

Experts emphasized the need for waste segregation and processing at the source.

New Delhi:  The EDMC in association with US Environment Protection Agency as a part of its Global Methane Initiative (GMI) along with TERI,  organised training-cum-awareness programme on waste management for bulk waste generators here on Tuesday.

During the event bulk waste generators were briefed about Solid Waste Management Rules-16 and Bye-Laws by Waste Management Experts. During the programme, additional commissioner   Alka Sharma emphasized the need for waste segregation at the source and also processing at the source.

She said that little effort can change the whole picture of waste management in East Delhi. She expressed hopes that bulk waste generators will help EDMC to make East Delhi garbage-free.

Expert, capacity building,  Pradeep Khandelwal explained the importance and advantages of source segregation and treatment of organic waste. The expert from TERI,  Sunil Pandey gave  the brief about the responsibilities of bulk waste generators and technologies for processing waste.
