Folk singer honored with ‘Lata Mangeshkar Swar Kokila Samman’ and 108 women with ‘Rashtra Shakti Shiromani Award’

New Delhi : Six famous women folk singers of the country were honored with the prestigious ‘Lata Mangeshkar Swar Kokila Samman’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Along with this, 108 women well-versed in education, literature, medicine, entrepreneurship, social service and other disciplines were decorated with ‘Rashtra Shakti Shiromani Samman’ and girls with ‘Rashtra Tejaswini Samman’. This function was organized by India’s strong nationalist, literary, social and cultural organization ‘Sampark Kranti Parivar’ on Tuesday at IMS College Auditorium, Noida.

On this occasion, the folk singers who were honored with Lata Mangeshkar Swara Kokila Samman paid tribute to late Lata Di by singing songs composed in her melodious voice. Along with this, folk songs were also sung in the traditional style. At the same time, Kalbelia dancer Gulabo Sapera along with her 08-year-old granddaughter Tiya Sapera performed Kalbelia dance on stage. Whereas, the disciples of Kathak dance guru Jitendra Maharaj performed Kathak, a traditional classical dance form. These presentations received a lot of appreciation from the audience.
