NCR GM alerts rly officials for fast clearance of coal rakes

Amidst reports of shortages of coals in the country being faced by various power projects and firms for power generation, NCR general manager has instructed NCR officials for fast clearance of coal rakes in the NCR zone.

Round the clock manning of control rooms by officers to ensure zero detention of coal rakes.

Officials said that GM NCR Pramod Kumar held a meeting with senior officers of the zone on Wednesday. DRMs of Agra, Prayagraj and Jhansi joined through videoconferencing.

An NCR spokesman said that In view of the coal crisis in the country, Railways have also taken charge to expedite movement of coal rakes.

During the meeting today, GM NCR Pramod Kumar analysed the position of coal movement through NCR. He reiterated his earlier instruction of manning control rooms with officers to ensure zero detention of coal rakes.

NCR receives loaded coal rakes from ECR, ER, SER, ECoR and SECR and supplies to the power plants of UP, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana located in NCR and NR. Officers have been deputed in control rooms at Tundla, Prayagraj, Jhansi and Agra and officers are monitoring the movement of coal rakes. The NCR spokesman added that NCR GM is taking real time position of all the coal rakes on run in NCR.

GM also instructed to depute officials at unloading sites of power houses of NCR to ensure no detention during unloading and speedy clearance of empty rakes.

GM has laid special stress on mobility of empty rakes so that they could be available for next loading at the earliest. During the discussion today, GM also asked to take steps to minimise asset failures which are adversely affecting mobility.

During the meeting, position of ongoing works were also discussed. Position of drawings of ongoing works was discussed. The progress of ongoing passenger amenities items like lifts, escalators was also reviewed during todays meeting.

It was informed that work is in progress for 31 more escalators over the various important stations of NCR. This includes 8 escalators each at Prayagraj Jn and Kanpur Central stations.
At Prayagraj Jn, the escalators will be provided at City side Line Shah Baba Bridge near RRI-1, FOB no.3 near RMS-1, Civil Line Side C.A.-1, PF-4/5 FOB No.3-2, PF-6 FOB No.4-1, PF-1 FOB No.4-1.

Out of these eight escalators, five are planned to be installed during current financial year, the NCR spokesman added.

At Kanpur Central, the escalators will be provided one each at PF-2/3, 4/5, Ghanta Ghar side-(HWH end), 6/7 and two each at Platform no. 8/9 and at bridge on Cantt. Side.

Staff welfare issues were also discussed during the meeting. The issues included the non agenda items raised by recognized unions of the zone during PNM meetings. Apart from this, GM NCR expressed concern over pending requests for mutual transfer cases of employees and directed to finalise all such cases at the earliest.
