NDMC organises plogging drive to observe World Mental Health Day

Today the plogging drive was carried out by safai sevaks, horticulture workers and morning walkers and joggers in Nehru Park early in the morning. They also collected around 52 kg garbage including 35 kg plastic waste.

New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)  organized    plogging drive with safai sevaks and morning walkers inside and surroundings area of Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri, to  observe the World Mental Health Day for creating awareness about mental fitness.

Medical officer ( health) , the NDMC, Dr. Ramesh Kumar, informed that Plogging is an eco-friendly exercise through which people pick up trash while jogging or brisk walking as a way to clean up litter and also take care of their health.

Today Plogging drive carried out by of safai sevak, horticulture workers and morning walkers / joggers in Nehru Park early in the morning and collected around 52 kg litter / garbage in which 35 kg plastic waste including polythene, wrappings, bottles, spoons etc were found.

All the plastic waste items have been deposited in the ” Plastic Lao,  Mask Pao ” stall at Charkha Museum, Connaught Place in New Delhi .

Kumar stressed upon the balance and maintenance of mind and body equilibrium by adopting meaningful habits in day to day activities. He also advised all the Safai Sevaks to stop alcohol intake and cigarette for healthy body and relaxed mind.

Among others CMO, Dr Gunjan Sahai, SMO,  Dr Vijay Patel , volunteers and visitors participated in the said drive to make Swachhata movement successful.
