SDMC’s first e-book ‘Glorious Heritage’ on heritage sites unveiled
The SDMC has created a 'Heritage Conservation Cell' and has identified a total of 475 heritage sites under its jurisdiction.
New Delhi : Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal, mayor of South Delhi Mukesh Suryan and commissioner Gyanesh Bharti unveiled SDMC’S first e-book ‘Glorious Heritage’ on heritage sites.
The lieutenant governor, while joining the programme through video conferencing, said that through this book, people especially young generation will come to know about historical monuments, ancient buildings and memorials.
He said that the SDMC has been conserving heritage sites despite having limited resources and facing financial crisis. He advised to work in association with the private agencies on PPP mode to carry forward conservation activities.
Mayor Suryan said that in order to conserve and protect our heritage sites, the SDMC has created a ‘Heritage Conservation Cell’ and has identified a total of 475 heritage sites under its jurisdiction. The first volume of e-heritage book unveiled today has beautifully displayed pictures and related information 108 heritage sites.
Two more volumes of this book are being drafted which will display information related to remaining heritage sites coming under jurisdiction of the SDMC. Oldest and latest heritage sites considered in this book are Anangtal which was mentioned by Budh Sridhar in 1132 AD and Daryaganj Police Station constructed in 1930 AD respectively.
Commissioner Bharti said the motive behind creation of ‘Heritage Conservation Cell’ is to make people aware about importance of historical and cultural heritages and to take measures to conserve and safeguard them.
